My first walk-in..

Last weekend i attend a walk-in, its IBM walk-in, but i attend without any intension of get thro' until they offered me a good work or great package. As usual it was very late when i slept on Saturday night but somehow I manage to got up early morning on Sunday , modified my resume and went to Bandra-Kurla complex (BKC). it is too big complex. I never been there somehow manage to reach there around 1 PM. Complex is too clean and huge one looks like a small city.

There were lots of panel. I told them that i want to attend both for java and unix as i do have any stable technology on my history, but they asked me to first attend for unix and we think abt the java since interviews are different.

So I stepped into the IBM office (that looks like a IBM sales office) with a visitors tag.Then i filled an self assessments form. After that they called me for the technical interview, it went for more than an hour They asked me almost in all the technology( c, c++, sql, DBMS, OS, Unix, OOPS, DS, .. ) some how i managed to answer more then 85 % of the question without any preparation then u can thing of how basic questions are they ?!?!?! Also i was explaining abt myself and the project i did and my roles in the projects and my daily work routines.

After this interview, they again called me and asked to fill the employment form. It was much clear abt my selection.I called my fri'd in IBM who fwded this openning.I asked abt the office and there policies. In the mean while i also enquire abt the other ppl who already came out this 2nd round that is PDM. its just a pay negotiation. so i went to the 2nd round, they directly asked abt my expectation. i mentioned abt 6+ and discussion went and went finally i came down to 5 - 5.5 till that time they didn't told abt there package eventho' i asked lot of time then i asked abt the work, its again that same support work. my face become like this :( And i confirm that its for IBM global solution but not for IBM s/w limited then my face gone like :(((. Finally they started with 3.75. It was total disappointment.I know they can come upto 4.5 but I simple refused the offer as both the pay and works were not so good.

Anyhow, I really enjoyed my first walkin and it gave me lots of confidents about myself.Thanks and good bye IBM.

My addiction ...

These days my life is style is changed a lot from my college days.I suppose i have been addicted to lots of harmful things... like...

1. Nescafe Classic.
2. Credit Cards.
3. Shopping.
4. Branded stuffs [may be not bad habit, if i have lots of money].
5. sleepless night life.
6. Mumbai's Fast Life style.
7. Usage of "F" word.

I trying to come out these things... let see... but things I'm missing...

1. silents of my life.
2. Music.
3. Healthy foods.
4. present of mind.

My CDs [ project ]

so guys, finally i come up with the new plan..ur views are most welcome ! !

Objective :

To keep tracks of all the CDs/DVDs and its directory structure and contains in an vitural directories.In otherwords, cd Library. [Also to learn perl]

Requriements :

1. Need to stored all the Directory and files details of all the CDs and its name.
2. File details includes name, extenstion [if applicable ], size, date of creation, relative path.
3. Ability to search files and directories with part of the file name as keyword.
4. Search should have the following options:
a. case sensative
b. Regular expression
c. OR & AND operation
d. size
e. Date
f. Path
5. Ability to traverse to all the directories and list all the files in particular directory.
6. Ability to list all the files and directories in tree views.
7. Rip all the files and directory stuctures in the given CD/DVD.

Plan :

Phase I :
Rip all the contents in the CD and store it in the file.
Phase II :
All the other requirements in command mode [not GUI].
Phase III :
All the requirements in GUI mode.

Design:

1. File will be used to store all the informations of CDs/DVDs and that file will be passed as an argument.
2. Stucture of the file contents.
cd1 Name|details <>directory2|details <..>>>
cd2 Name|details <>directory2|details <..>>>
.....
3. In command mode interface, all the options should be made and also available as command-line arguments.
4. Indexing will be made available in memory for better search algorithm.
5. Separate (Binary) Search algorithm will be implemented in a separate module.
6. Proper help / manual will be made available for all the options.

Java performance tunning:

I got chance a of working in an core java project. i have been tuning multi-threaded java application. I came across of lots of interesting factors in the performances like wait vs sleep , multi-threading vs (String, log4j, vector), performance vs OOPS, JVM arguments ...

....actually plan was writing longggggg article for each topics...


Vasota trekking :

Its an another beautiful page in my mumbai diary. Really an awesome place for amateur trekkers. Its 150 km from Pune, then 45 mins bus traveling and 2 hrs awesome launch journey thats one of the best part of the trip.

you slowly realize that you are a distant urban fool..
As the surrounding there is really cool..

I got cold feet, the breeze and the butterflies..
..which are the better flies !!!

A night's stay in the cave..
cooking maggi and fire-camp in the dark forest..

On the next day we were chilling out at panchgani(really on cloud #9). Vodka and a night out adds more fun to the trip.

sed and nawk :

There are lot of scripting logic I came to across. Processing data using nawk is requires a totally a different programing logic to use power of nawk.its really interesting,fast and usefull. may i'll try bloggin some scripts later...
